Marcy was born in St. Augustine and was raised mainly in the South in a military family. She entered civil service with the US Air Force right out of high school. Twelve years later, she earned a BS in Business Management and an MBA in Management in night school while working and raising two daughters. She worked for the Air Force for 18 years until being laid off. She became a Realtor in 1989 and has been selling real estate and managing residential properties ever since.
Marcy began painting in 1970 when her husband gave her his oils, brushes and Walter Foster instruction books after deciding art wasn’t for him. Marcy eagerly took them, started painting, and has never stopped. She began art classes in earnest in the early 80’s, studying oil painting with Georgia Abood of Alizarin Crimson in Stuart, FL. After moving to Albuquerque, NM in the mid-80s, she attended UNM adult art classes. Since moving back to Florida in 1995, Marcy studied acrylic painting with Denise Justice in Stuart and decorative art and watercolor in Port St. Lucie. She also studied professional faux finishing in 2006 with Jodi Baldanza at Faux Effects in Vero Beach. After moving to Fort Pierce in 2010, Marcy studied with Leslie Stokes at Art Mundo for two years, and at that time, began moving into abstract painting. Nearing retirement from real estate, Marcy has begun preparing for a third career in professional art. She has prepared a 2014 business plan and is actively involving herself with the local art community, entering art shows and moving toward creating 20+ paintings during 2014. |
